Why he’s running: Reichardt said his kids are in the Littleton Public Schools system and will be the entire time he’s on the board. He said he brings a lot of expertise and knowledge in education policy and is dedicated to improving the system. He wants to make sure programs the district offers are effective and improve them by putting in place a strategic plan that identifies the district’s biggest challenges, which would help the district be accountable for achieving those outcomes, such as accomplishing goals to help kids struggling with reading and kids who are English language learners, and making them successful in high school and college.
He also said he wants to respond to the pressures on students and families later in life and how success in the classroom leads to success in a career.
“I think we have a good system and I think we can make it better,” he said.
He said the district also needs to be prepared for more poor kids and demographically different kids. He also said the district is ahead of the game in terms of technology and getting computers in the hands of kids, but it still can do more to engage technology.
