Why he’s running: Jones said he is trained in and has experience running large- and small-scale organizations from a managerial viewpoint and would be able to offer a viewpoint independent of current Littleton Public Schools employees. He said he’s a good team player and able to work with other people to identify issues and ask the right questions and frame the discussions in a way that helps everyone engage and collaborate for a good solution.

The most important issue to him in this election is to sustain the level of excellence LPS delivers, as well as coping with a number of environmental pressures, such as the declining incomes of taxpayers and making sure educators have what they need without overburdening the taxpayers. He said the mandates coming from the state are well-intentioned, but are disjointed and take away time for teachers to educate students. The significant amount of additional time principals will need to evaluate teachers must be recognized. He also wants the board to recognize why parents are sending their kids to LPS schools and make sure they’re looking for specific curriculum outcomes.

He said he’s against Amendment 66 because it’s asking taxpayers to pay a $1 billion entry fee to join a game for which they don’t know the rules.
