Why he’s running: Hanbery said he is concerned about the new development at the old Marathon Oil site and what impacts that will have quality of life and traffic. He said he’s also concerned that council members seems mainly concerned with development on the east side of the city and not the west when there’s a lot of vacant retail near the Streets at SouthGlenn and the University Boulevard corridor is under-performing,
He said he wants to make sure the city sticks to its foundation of limited government.
“It’s very easy for governments to say that and grow,” Hanbery said.
Hanbery also wants to determine if the city is getting the proper return on investment on its expenditures and that it works with the city model.
He thinks the current council members have done an admirable job and laid a good foundation for the council members who will be elected in November.
He said it’s very important the city looks at its return on investment when it comes to providing for seniors, but that it’s important to retain their wisdom.
Hanbery said it’s also important to help Centennial form an identity for itself that incorporates both the western and eastern sides of the city. He said he has some experience with that working with the Havana Business Improvement District, which he said has been a wild success.
