Why he’s running: Huff said over his tenure he’s tried to get the city on a firm financial foundation and worked with council in 2010 to reduce overhead expenses and has devoted much more to road repairs, sidewalks and irrigation. He said he’d like to continue on the improvement plan he and council has laid out. The council also worked to acquire the land for the new Castle Pines Library, and that’s something the residents can be proud of.

He said the city’s also going in the right direction as indicated by its ranking by CNN Money magazine as one of the top places to live in the county, and being ranked third best suburban community in the country by Coldwell Banker Real Estate.

“You don’t get those accolades if you’re on the wrong track,” Huff said.

He said he and council have also established Castle Pines’ first arts and cultural foundation to further cultural events and dedicated Elk Ridge Park in 2011, which won awards for landscape design and overall park design.

He said his opponent, Dana Hall, has called for an independent audit of the city’s finances, but the city already has that done every July by the state of Colorado.

He also said through his tenure he’s helped to reduce spending on consultants and cut legal fees for the city, established the departments of public works, finance and city clerk, and has hired professional staff members, in the process saving the city a lot of money. He also touts council as being a transparent organization with residents being able to access any information through their website and watch a city council meeting from their home or office.

He also wants to give the people what they want in regards to a recreation facility.
