Why she’s running: Reynolds said she believes in the reforms put in place by the school board over the last four years, such as the new pay-for-performance plan and the board’s fiscal responsibility, and their delegation of site-based budgeting and decision-making happening at the school level.
She said her opponent does not want those things, but they are what make the district unique. She also supports parent choice when it comes to choosing schools, and she supports the board cutting ties with the Douglas County Federation teachers’ union.
“I think not having a collective bargaining agreement with the union is a good thing and gives us more flexibility to focus on our students and the flexibility to pay our teachers more instead of exactly the same,” she said.
